THE ORDINARY: FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Tuesday, 19 May 2020

For years I had seen people rave about The Ordinary on Instagram and various blogs. I had always wanted to give it a go, but I just wasn't sure. My skin is super sensitive to different products – usually my skin breaks out if I change it up too often.

But lockdown had me feeling a type of way about my skin – despite not wearing much makeup around the house, my skin was getting worse. Breakouts, dry patches, blackheads – it was awful. But then I fancied ordering some new skincare treats, so I decided to place an order with Beauty Bay. I purchased four products from The Ordinary, their: Natural Moisturising Factors + HA 100ml, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 30ml, 100% Organic Cold Pressed Borage Seed Oil 30%, and their Serum Foundation SPF 15 Fair 1.1N 30ml

When my Beauty Bay haul arrived, my skin was actually going through a really bad breakout (probably hormonal as I was due on my period at the time). I had two massive spots on my chin that were painful and sore. As soon as my haul arrived, I headed to the bathroom, cleansed my face and then applied the three skincare products I had ordered. I started off with applying the Niacinamide all over my face, but specifically concentrating on my angry/painful spots. I then applied a few drops of the Borage Seed Oil before applying the Natural Moisturising Factors to my skin.

I can honestly say that the skincare that I purchased and have started to use from The Ordinary have worked wonders. I didn't expect the products to produce noticeable changes so quickly – I thought that it would take a good two or three weeks to see results, but I saw an improvement within just three days. My spots virtually disappeared within three days, how amazing is that?

After one week of using the three skincare products by The Ordinary, my skin felt more hydrated, less greasy, far clearer, as well as more toned and fresh too! I use the three products in-conjunction with each other and I personally think they work incredibly well with one another. I tend to apply them twice each day – once in the morning after cleansing and before makeup, and once in the evening when I've removed my makeup and cleansed.

These three products have really spiked my interest in this brand and their skincare collection. There's so much I want to try from them. I can sense another haul coming on...

I also ordered their Serum Foundation in 1.1N – it's super lightweight and goes on really well. I got the shade perfect, which was a pretty good guess. I've got a pale olive skin tone with yellow undertones. The foundation definitely resembles a serum – it's smooth, silky and sits on the skin really nice. I definitely want to try their full coverage foundation at some point.

Overall, my first impressions of The Ordinary are extremely positive! Everything I ordered was extremely high in quality and the value was amazing (most products ranging from £3–£6). Definitely my new favourite skincare brand – I cannot wait to try more and review it all here for you.
