MOLLIE'S TOP TIPS FOR BEING CLASSY IN YOUR TWENTIES

[This post contains a gifted dress from Shein]

I like to think of myself as a classy young woman. I've had to grow up pretty fast due to leaving school two years prior to when I was supposed to, plus a multitude of other reasons also. I like to think I'm wiser beyond my years, and I like to think of myself as an 'old soul'. So I've compiled my top tips for being a classy young woman while in your twenties...

Obviously this post is just a bit of fun. I'm not 'telling' anybody that they should be doing all of this, and I'm not judging anybody if they don't do any of this. I'm just listing the things that I believe to make me classy.

Wear red lipstick

I started wearing lipstick about six years ago, and I've never left the house without it (excluding last week when I had an early morning dentist appointment, but fear not.. as soon as I was out of the seat I was swiping on some red lippy). Anyway, I just think that red lipstick is a statement. Not only is it classic, but it's sultry, it goes with everything, and it represents a boldness and determination. If in doubt, add red lipstick.. after all, it never fails to add a dash of sass!

Be true to yourself

I've tried to fit in, and oh boy.. it just doesn't work out for me – ever. I've tried drinking, I've tried going out late at night, and none of those things are for me. If something isn't your cup of tea, don't do it. If you don't want to do something, don't force yourself to in order to fit in.

Alter your style

My style evolved the most when I started blogging. 2013/14 was when my style evolved and changed the most. I went from wearing tie-dyed clothing every day, to wearing dresses, jackets and kitten heels. For me, dresses and skirts ooze class – especially when they're at a length that is 'respectable' and dignified. I am currently obsessed with below-the-knee and calf-length skirts – they're effortlessly classy, and so chic and elegant too.

Treat everybody with kindness

Be kind. Always. Smile at people, say hello to people you recognise, press the bell on the bus if somebody asks you to, hold the door open for somebody walking in after you – kindness can change somebody's day, and in my opinion, there's nothing more classy than being kind.

Let bygones be bygones

We don't see eye-to-eye with everybody, and we aren't ever going to get along or like everybody we come across. My view on this is to just be kind. Even if you had a fall out with somebody, don't gossip about them, don't ignore them, and don't be up their arse – instead just be civil. Let bygones be bygones, and be classy in every sense of the word.

Chipped nail polish is a big 'no no'

I cannot stand chipped nail polish. If my nails chip when I'm out, I'm devastated, but I understand that nothing can be done. But I would never, ever leave my nails chipped... it would bug me too much, plus it looks so untidy! I probably paint my nails three times a week, and again, red is a signature shade of mine.

Let the man be a gentleman

Contrary to popular opinion these days, I think the man should pay on the first date, especially if he is the one who suggests the date or asks you out. I am all for female empowerment and equality, but the old-fashioned girl in me just thinks that some traditions should remain. If you find yourself going on a date that you've been asked on, and you find yourself having to pay for your drink – then this first date is also the last date. So always make sure you've got some spare change in your purse!
