Singing has been my number one passion for years. Ever since I can remember I have been singing, it's something I do daily without fail. My debut single 'Two Years' dropped onto Spotify and other online retailers on February 25th. If you want to hear 'Two Years' and the journey in which I've been on, keep reading...
My journey started in 2012 I paid £100 and went to a recording studio to record some covers. It wasn't very professional at all. You basically went in, sung four songs in one take each and left with an okay sounding CD – I was young and I thought I'd made it. I also entered a local talent show and got to the quarter finals, again I was young and I thought I'd made it. I then was offered a recording contract by an indie label in Soho, London – they wanted £1,000 upfront with no guarantee of success, so I turned it down after obtaining legal advice. In 2013 my life altered quite a lot, we moved area multiple times, I dropped out of school and then was diagnosed with Gallstones; but still, I continued to write songs, although this is when blogging, photography and fashion journalism took over my life.
I continued to practice singing every single night, and I continued to write songs as regularly as I could. In 2016 while studying media, I met my now producer. We started recording songs, mainly covers of Taylor Swift songs in the beginning. And that soon progressed into our own material. I brought all of the lyrics I had recently written into the studio and we would jam them out, him on the guitar and me singing into my phone – from that moment songs were born. It was last December, a week before Christmas when we were in the studio and my debut single, Two Years was born. I'd written some material over the fall and there was some free slots in the studio, so I headed in and we jammed this song out a few times. I ended up combining two songs that I had written, Two Years and a song called Six Months together to create the track you know today. We winged it and it worked better than anything we could have planned.
After the demo was recorded we figured out how we wanted the track to sound. We wanted an ambient track – a fusion of various genres so that it would appeal to a broad group of people. We triple tracked the vocals – I had to record the final vocals three times each to get the desired effect. My producer, Sam, then came up with guitar riffs, two killer guitar solos and an ambient, atmospheric melody to suit, and then our drummer came up with a perfect drum beat to flow throughout the track. Once each individual track was merged together, Sam began mixing and mastering the track – this process took a while because he wouldn't settle for anything less than perfection.
A few weeks down the line, we were finally happy. Sam mastered and exported the track and then we was good to go. We decided to put it out on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, YouTube Red and Tidal. There's also a lyric video up on YouTube.
I really want 'Two Years' to take off and become a success. Singing has been my main goal and passion since I can remember. I want to make my dreams a reality and I really want 'Two Years' to do well. I'm currently writing and working on my debut album 'Rain Showers' which will come out in the fall of 2018, 'Two Years' will of course feature on 'Rain Showers'.
I really hope you love 'Two Years', join in with the conversation on social media #TwoYears, share my track to all of your friends, add it to playlists, listen to it on repeat and let's get this song heard as much as we can.
Thank you so much for your continued support...
