Mother's Day is a very special day of the year indeed. It's a day to show how much you appreciate your mother, nan or somebody who may be like a mum to you!
Myself and my mum, you may know her as 'Mummy Quirk', are incredibly close - we always have been. We get on so well and in many ways, we are more like best friends rather than mother and daughter. My mum actually helped me put this gift idea post together as I thought it would be nice to get her take on what she'd like for this special day and also what other mothers may want or appreciate receiving this year.
Me and my mum are very very similar so it's so easy for me to buy gifts for her because I know that if I love it, she will too. But I understand that it isn't this easy for everybody, hence why myself and my mum have put together this super handy and incredibly affordable Mother's Day Gift Ideas Guide to ensure that your mum feels extra special this Mother's Day. From bath bombs, to nail polishes, shower gels, luxury fragrances and a classic mug - there's something for every kind of mother.
A Spectrum Collections Rain Glow Highlighting Fan Brush
Spectrum Collections is a brush brand that you all know I adore - fun, sassy brushes that appeal to everybody, Spectrum are constantly releasing some of the most photogenic makeup brushes in existence. This gorgeous new addition to the Spectrum family is their Rain Glow Highlighting Fan Brush, which is just the most sassy brush I have ever set eyes (well, cheek bones on). Just recently I have been getting my mum into trying new makeup products such as brow mascara and highlighter and what better way to get her into highlighting than to get her the most gorgeous brush ever!? My mum adores bright colours so much - she's very out there, unique, bold and classy yet sassy, which is why this brush suits her so much. If your mum adores glitter or highlighting then this photogenic fan brush could be for her. At just £19.99, this gorgeous Spectrum brush would make a glittering gift this Mother's Day, which will light up your mum's face... literally!
A Pixi X AspynOvard highlighting powder
Pixi by Petra's new SS17 range is absolutely gorgeous! As soon as I saw the products splashed all over Instagram I just fell in love instantly. Petra has collaborated with four amazing beauty gurus to create this beautiful range of fuss-free makeup that can create amazing looks and achieve fabulous results in minutes. This gorgeous highlighting Glow-y Powder which was created in collaboration with Aspyn Ovard is a gorgeous light and airy highlighting powder in the shade 'London Lustre'. This would be a perfect accompaniment to team with the above Spectrum Collections Fan Brush if you were to put together a little makeup bundle for your mum this Mother's Day. Beautifully pigmented, super sparkly and containing lots of light reflecting pigments at just £14, this highlighting powder will definitely ensure your mum shines bright like a diamond this Mothering Sunday.
Roger & Gallet Shower Gel
Roger & Gallet a brand that has been around since 1862 and a brand that is loved all around the world. Their products contain pure and precious ingredients which are both natural and active. The gorgeous scent that I have featured in this post is their Gingembre Fragranced Shower Gel which smells incredibly opulent, expensive and super luxurious. The gel-like formula ensures your skin is left hydrated, moisturised and feeling super silky and incredibly smooth. This shower gel smells very much like a luxury high-end perfume, which is why it will make the most amazing gift. Roger & Gallet is stocked at M&S and John Lewis, amongst other stockists.A scented candle from Pacifica
I'm pretty sure that every mother would love to receive a scented candle for Mother's Day. My mum especially adores candles. For many years she has collected Yankee Candles but for Mother's Day I like to get her things that are different, unique and usually from brands she hasn't tried before. If you're unsure what scents your mum would like in a candle, you just can't go wrong with a sweetly scented vanilla candle, especially when the jar and box is this pretty! My mum adores Pacifica's perfumes, I got her a few for Christmas and she just can't get enough of them, so I decided to get her this candle to see if she can be a Yankee Candle convert. The price is a little steep, but I can assure you that this candle smells DIVINE and I can't wait until she decides to burn. At £25, the Island Vanilla Deluxe Candle by Pacifica is slightly pricier than some other brands, but totally worth every penny!
Some LUSH Cosmetics Bath Bombs and Bubble Bars
My mum loves to pamper herself - well, which woman walking this planet wouldn't want to pamper herself? Especially on Mother's Day! Myself and my mum actually used to live next door to the original and first LUSH store in Poole, Dorset and have adored this brand for the past 7 years or so. The other day we both headed to our local LUSH store and picked out some new cuties for this post. My mum's all time favourite scent from LUSH is definitely the KARMA fragrance; she has got through over 3 full sized bottles of the perfume, 3 solid fragrance sticks and 2 mini bottles of the perfume as well as multiple bubble bars and bars of soap too! She hadn't actually tried KARMA bubble bar since it had a make over a while ago, so I just had to get this one for her, at only £4.50, this hippy scented bathing accompaniment smells divine. We also picked up the MUM Bath Bomb which is only £2.95, the Rose Bombshell Bath Bomb, £4.25 and the Ladybird Bubble Bar, £3.95.
A cup of tea in a brand new mug
My mum adores tea. It's probably her favourite drink ever - she drinks around 15 cups of tea per day! I love getting my mum and my nan special mugs when it's Mother's Day as it's something that they will use most days and whenever they see it, they will think of me. Mugs are great gift ideas for Mother's Day and they're super cheap and affordable. The below mug that reads 'Tea-Riffic Mum' was only £3.00 from Primark and came with a super cute matching coaster! And the other mug that you see throughout this post that reads 'I love the way we don't have to say I'm your favourite!' was only £3.50 from Sainsbury's! Mugs are great gestures to give on Mother's Day!
A Juicy Couture Fragrance
Myself and my mum honestly adore Juicy Couture fragrances so much! We have done for around 5 years and I doubt we'll ever stop purchasing them. If your mum is classy with a fresh and young edge, then this brand of fragrance is definitely for her! My mum just can't get enough of this brand - not only do the bottles look divine, but the fragrances themselves smell absolutely exquisite! Juicy Couture fragrances are fun, fresh and musky - they all have a distinctive scent to them which makes them so unique. These fragrances are purchased from Fragrance Direct - I always order from Fragrance Direct as they always have really, really good deals and offers on. The two fragrances that myself and my mum recommend are Viva La Juicy 100ml (only £38.95) and I Am Juicy 50ml (only £26.95). Viva La Juicy is a young, fresh heady fragrance with a feminine mix of Mandarin, Wild Berry (top notes); Gardenia and Honeysuckle (heart notes) and Sandalwood, Sweet Caramel, Praline and Vanilla (base notes). I Am Juicy is a bold, intense and incredibly playful fragrance with Raspberry and Passionfruit (top notes); Gardenia, Rose de Mai and Sweet Pea (heart notes) and Candied Amber, Cashmere Woods and Soft Musks (base notes). My mum's favourite fragrance of the two would have to be Viva La Juicy and my favourite conveniently happens to be I Am Juicy. If your mum likes warm musky scents similar to Calvin Klein fragrances such as Euphoria and Obsession, then Viva La Juicy will be for her. But if your mum prefers sweeter more heady scents similar to Armani Si and Flash by Jimmy Choo, then I Am Juicy will be for her.
Classy stationary from Caroline Gardner and Busy B
Stationary is a big part of every woman's life. Taking notes, writing endless lists and hoarding pretty notebooks; it's just something us girls love to do. Getting your mum a pretty pen with a matching case, a handy organiser or a collection of pretty exercise books will make her day, trust me. My mum makes endless lists and to-do notes throughout the week of tasks and errands she needs to run, which is why stationary makes such a wonderful gift for any mother. The stationary that you see throughout this post is just gorgeous. The ditsy floral notebooks are from Caroline Gardner and retail at just £12 for a pack of three, the chunky organiser covered in pastel hearts is the Ultimate Organiser also from Caroline Gardner. Perfect for storing her weekly to-dos, receipts and sums for budgeting her weekly outgoings this handy organiser retails at just £16.50 The gorgeous mint green ball point pen with matching case that you see featured in this post is from Busy B and is from their brand new fashion range and retails at just £15.99.
A floral fragrance from Yardley
Yardley is a gorgeous brand and a brand that has been around since 1770. The gorgeous fragrance that you see below is their fabulous and incredibly chic English Freesia EDT. With top notes of Lemon, Freesia, Mandarin, Bergamot, Cypress and Lavender; heart notes of Freesia, Muguet, Ginger and Pepper and base notes of Sandalwood, Musk, Olibanum and Amber Crystals. Retailing at just £9.99 but currently on offer for only £6.66, this fragrance is a bargain and will ensure your mother smells divine this Mothering Sunday!A pretty Nail Polish from Paul & Joe
Paul & Joe is a Japanese beauty brand that I have been trying out just recently. The below nail polish would make the most gorgeous gift for your mother this Mother's Day. The peachy coral hue of this nail polish is so perfect for Spring 2017. The neutral tone means that it would suit anybody of any shape, size or skin tone and would most definitely go with a vast amount of outfits. Available for just £12 from Selfridges amongst other beauty stores, Paul & Joe nail polishes are packaged in a gorgeous bottle and look amazing upon any dressing table.
I really hope that this fun and fabulous gift ideas post has given you some inspiration on what to get for your mum this Mother's Day. Our mum's and mother figures in our lives endure so much to ensure that we are safe, secure, happy, loved and content; which is why I believe that Mothering Sunday is such a prominent day for all of us to show appreciation to the special women in our lives. The smallest gesture can mean the most, which is why I put together this super affordable gift ideas post. You may decide to get your mum an opulent bottle of perfume or you may decide to get her a mug with a meaningful message upon it and serve her a cup of tea within it - whatever you decide to treat her with, she is going to love it.. I can assure you.. she most definitely will.
What do you plan on getting the mother figure in your life this Mother's Day?

DeleteI love the content you've displayed for Mothers' Day. Of course not all of the above are gifts which I would buy for my Mum but they're generally great inspiration for other gifts. In my opinion,Mothers' Day should be everyday in order to showcase mothers efforts and children's affection towards our mothers on a daily basis. It would also mean a lot of money is spent!
